British artist,Sophie Adams, born 1980, makes paintings that relate to the natural world, yet are imagined by her.
'My reference points are engendered by music, hip-hop, jazz, and soul. I also like the idea of imbuing my paintings with a psychology.
Liking the idea of appropriating imagery from the world she encounters and lives in, she then goes to her studio and paints from the world she is inspired by and yet, it is a world that is hers.
Having graduated from the Slade in 2007, she followed this with an Arts Therapy Foundation Course in 2015.
'I paint because I need to. I paint in order to make people see. This world is so blinded by technology that it is jaded.'
'Bride, one of my favourite paintings, is about sorrow and fear, yet rendered playfully with a child-like application of paint, quite consciously.'
She regularly exhibits in the United Kingdom.
