Jon Everitt studied Graphic Design and Illustration at East Surrey School of Art & Design and has spent his working life as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. He took up painting in acrylics in 2006 as an antidote to graphic design and because he wanted to express his own view of the world rather than a client’s.
Although influenced by artists as diverse as Magritte, Bosch and Spencer he prefers to develop his own artistic space and tries to avoid being categorised. His work is characterised by a sly humour with a skewed vision that gives many of the pictures a slightly dark edge.
Since starting to paint he has exhibited in venues across the south and west of England as well as in Southern France and Normandy. His work has found its way onto walls across the UK, Europe and Australia.
Jon spends his time between Southsea in Hampshire and Céret, a small town near the Franco-Spanish border.
