Artist's Biography
Petrus Johann van Regemorter was a painter of genre and of interior scenes, who was born in Anvers on 8 September and who died on 17 November. Van Regemorter excelled in the representation of moonlight scenes.
A pupil of the Academy of Anvers, van Regemorter worked a lot with the private collections. He would become a professor of the academy where a great number of artists of merit would train under his direction. He became a senior of Gilde in 1786.
He was a member of the Commission charged in 1815 with the bringing back to France of the works of French Art yielded during the Wars of the Republic. Van Regemorter was also a restorer of paintings. “
